April is National Stress Awareness Month and although we can’t avoid stress all the time, we can all definitely look for ways to lower our stress levels.
Today we’ll be talking through some ways to reduce stress and remind ourselves that even the smallest changes in our daily routine can ultimately change the course of our lives for the better and drastically improve our mood everyday. Welcome to Soul Sesiones!
Physical Effects of Stress
Reducing stress in your everyday life is vital to maintaining a healthy mind, body and soul as it can improve your mood, boost immune function, promote longevity and allow you to lead a more productive life. Who wants to be stressed out all the time? When you let your stress get the best of you, you are putting yourself at risk of developing a range of illnesses. I’m sure you’re all aware that stress can wear your body out right? Some physical reactions to stress include tense muscles, tension headaches, migraines and a disruption in our digestives processes that can cause nausea, pain, heartburn and more.
Now that we’ve discussed the physical effects of stress, what are some ways we can reduce our stress levels? Well, there are hundreds of things you can do daily to reduce stress, but let’s touch on a few.
Ways to Reduce Stress
Stress management is so important to our health, and the first tip is brought to you by one of the most successful women out there, Facebook COO Sheryl Sanberg, She told Business Insider she gets a good night sleep by turning off her phone and avoiding scrolling through social media or reading emails late at night. So, remember to switch off that phone and laptop, and get the rest you need every night.
This next tip is brought to you by Forbes, and that is focus on your freedoms and not your limitations. We have the ability to stop our negative thoughts from replaying over and over in our head, focus on the positive everyday, and you can do this by waking up with a grateful heart. We are the light in this world, wherever you go spread your light and choose your personal freedom, your love over fear in everything you do. You might ask yourself, how does this reduce stress? Because you are choosing positivity, love and gratitude and that will bring you eternal happiness.
Lastly, incorporate meditation or some form of stillness in your life. Meditation helps us relax our minds and bodies, it allows us to connect with our true, authentic inner selves and come everyday from a place of honesty, love and compassion, rather than judgment and criticism. This is the goal, right? To be our most authentic selves. Practicing meditation 10 minutes everyday can reduce stress levels, and enhance your physical and emotional well-being.
Pray, laugh, practice deep breathing, exercise every week, take walks in nature, stretch, self care, turn off your phone, listen to good music, inspire, motivate and fuel yourself up EVERY DAY! 🙏🏽 If things are getting too heavy, let go.
